Karlie Kloss in Vogue

We all know that Vogue chooses to put the top celebrities and supermodels on their covers. Well, for this September’s important issue, 19 year Karlie Kloss graces not 1 but 2 covers. At the tender age of 19, Karlie is in Vogue USA and Japan.

Chicago born Karlie was established at the tender age of 13 and soon signed on to Elite Model management in 2007. Since being scouted at a charity fashion show this 19 year old has modelled for Dior, Donna Karen, Nina Ricci, John Paul Gaultier, YSL, McQueen, Gap and many more. She is still highly sought after, just in 2011 she signed a contract with the biggest lingerie brand, Victoria’s secret.

As you can see that Karlie is fast making her way to becoming the next biggest supermodel.

So which cover do you prefer? The light, fun happy cover or the darker edgier cover?

Suit up

Blazers are one staple piece that never seems to go out of fashion. They are stylish and versatile, that’s why every woman must have one. The good thing about blazers is that there are many colours, cuts and shapes to choose from.
This season the runways were full with blazers from designers such as Rag and Bone and Mary Katrantzou. You are sure to always find a blazer that will be within your budget.

This spring, remember the brighter the blazer, the better!!

Tom Ford Beauty Spring 2012

This season we see Tom Ford launch his beauty and cosmetics range. His inspiration for the line came from the look of a natural tan and glow. This line includes everything from a Bronzer, Prima, Nail Polish and Lip glosses. He offers the full range to give every woman the natural tan for the summer.

He launched two ad campaigns to promote the line.

The first ad is the Metallic Goddess

The second ad is the Bronze Goddess

I have to say that I was not fond of the second ad. The first one reminded me of an old school classy, simple, editorial like ad showing the cosmetics. The second ad places too much emphasis on the hair, making it take the eye away from the make-up.

So which is your favourite ad campaign?

S/S 2012 Bag Trends

This season we have many options of bags to choose from. We have seen many bag trends this season making it hard to choose our favourite one. The trends range from , black and gold, bold colours, semi-transparent, reptile skins, neon accented, nude peachy tones, basket bags and retro inspired.
With all these options have you spotted your new favourite bag??

The British beauty

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

She has graced many high fashion magazine covers, has a Victoria’s secret contract, is dating a movie star, is the face of Burberry and has even appeared in her first feature film for Michael Bay, all at the age of 24. WOW!!

So where did it all begin for this 5ft 9in beauty? And is she the next Gisele or Kate moss? These are some of the questions that fashion industry experts will be discussing and asking themselves as they prepare for ad campaigns and fashion week. What impact does Rosie Huntington have on fashion and is it the same as the Brazilian beauty Gisele who can still make anything sell and who designers still want to book, even after being in the industry for over 10 years.

Rosie was born in Devon, England. She was bullied at school for her awkward looks and her full lips. When she was in college she was discovered by Profile model management, whilst she was undertaking an internship at a modelling agency where she was serving tea. She had no attentions of becoming a model. At the age of 16 she landed a gig with Levi’s, posing for their commercial.

She has stepped into the limelight thanks to her gig for VS. Since signing on as one of their angels in 2009, Rosie has graced the ad campaigns for the like of Prada, Karen Millen and Burberry. She has walked on the catwalk for Victoria’s secret, Animale and Andres Sarda.
Most recently Rosie starred in the blockbuster movie Transformers 3, replacing Megan Fox.
So where does this leave Rosie? And what can we expect from her in the future? So to speak it did take Rosie time to gain the recognition that she wanted. At the begging she paid her dues and worked her way up. She once graced the ads for the British high street brand Monsoon and now is the face for Burberry. The future for Rosie seems bright, there are many avenues that she can and will take. Most likely she will do more movies, continue modelling, and just maybe one day decides to launch her own bag or shoe line. She is still young and has many options to explore. We will defiantly see more of her in the coming years.

Only time will tell if she lives up to the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Adrianna Lima, Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks. However, she is on the right path, so make space for a new top Model!

D&G- One last time

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are the creators of D&G. It was launched 9 years after the creation of their main line. The D&G line was created with urban influences. It was catered to more of a younger market. This line is a more contemporary, sensual, forward, and innovated line.

Last September the kings of Milan fashion week made an announcement just before the models graced the catwalk that the younger sibling to Dolce and Gabbana was to shut down (D&G) in order for them to concentrate on their main line.

It’s left many industry professionals baffled by the all of a sudden closure of the brand. Many have speculated that it may be due to the recent degrading of Italy and maybe due to the effects of the financial crisis. However, reports claim that the D&G line has been out performing the Dolce and Gabbana line in many Asian markets. D&G is a very profitable brand; therefore the financial crisis has nothing to do with the closure of the line. So that leaves us with, did customers get confused between the two lines and was there no actual difference between the two lines? Some have suggested that customers were confused between the names of the two lines. But does that lead one to close down a highly successful contemporary line?

It is expected that Dolce and Gabbana will expand their brand into more casual categories such as T-shirts and jeans. Well, that will at least leave us with best of both worlds.
Whatever the story is behind the closure of the D&G line, all I can say that it is one of the best contemporary lines in history. It combined both luxury and style into one.

Take a look at some of their best pieces from their collections.

ENJOY!!
